The Reunion Tour
Oasis, worldwide superstars are now back together after a 15 year feud. Their 2025 reunion tour was officially announced on the 27/08/24 through a social media post captioned "This is it, this is happening. Tickets on sale this Saturday 31st August 9AM BST. " Despite some issues with presale, Oasis followed through with their promise and tickets did go live that Saturday. These tickets were of course in extremely high demand with fans waiting in up to 8 hour queues for tickets that ranged from £60-£200pp. Unfortunately, due to how front page this tour is, it has been struck with very negative outcomes. These include resale tickets being sold for up to £5000 and Tik Tok bots claiming they have spare tickets to be sold and fans paying the high prices just for the accounts to disappear once the money is in their account. So let this blog also be a PSA, BE CAREFUL ABOUT BUYING SECOND HAND TICKETS FROM ANYWHERE, ESPECIALLY TIK TOK!!!!
What Happened?
Reunion, getting back together after being split up. But what happened for them to split up? The band have been separated since 2009 and people often seek to find the defining reason for why they decided to disband but in all honesty it was a build up of tension over several days but let's recap the main ones that people like to mention.
May-June 1995 : While working on their second album Noel was disrupted in the studio by Liam and his group of friends. In anger, Noel hits Liam with a cricket bat round the back of his head. This bat was later sold at auction.
23/08/1996 : Oasis were about to perform at the MTV Unplugged show at the royal festival hall in London, however, Liam had to pull out due to a sore throat. Noel performs a twelve song setlist by himself with Liam reportedly heckling from the crowd.
27/08/1996 : Liam pulls out of the American tour last minute, due to personal matters. Liam had spontaneously sold his house and left him and his wife homeless! He then changes his mind and suddenly joins the tour three days later. It was eventually cancelled in full, however, two weeks after this.
21/05/2000 : A show in Spain in cancelled so, in true Oasis fashion, the band get drunk and Liam questions the validity of Noels daughter. Noel leaves Oasis for the rest of the European tour.
28/08/2009 : After multiple other social media and physical altercations between the band members Oasis split! It was the day of show in Paris and as they prepare to take stage a fight breaks out. Liam is reported to be holding Noels guitar like an axe! The whole tour and that show was cancelled and Noel releases a statement that reads " It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you, that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer." Noel later states that the argument was over a leather jacket!
Ever since 2009 there have been many rumours of an Oasis reunion, with Noel saying things like "Never say never" but this one has made it out of the rumour stage and into the spotlight!
The BRIT Awards
The BRIT Awards, which stands for British Phonographic Industry's annual popular music awards, is usually a source of fire for popular British artists to go head to head although sometimes it does get slightly unprofessional. Call outs and fighting can be dated back from the start of the popular award show, however, Oasis and their cocky persona and uncensored way of putting themselves out there caused a lot of controversy back in the 2000s. It was Blur VS Oasis going head to head all throughout the naughties and the publics vote was also very divided. Some may side with Blur for maybe being more approachable and likeable in contrast to Oasis's loud and ignorant rockstar mentality. Robbie Williams also got involved with the drama and siding against Oasis, he made it very clear that he not only had a problem with their music but also their frontman Liam Gallagher with him even offering Liam to a fight "We both put 100k in and fight for it!" he said on the podium in front of everyone. Despite how much the public may have enjoyed it, the fight did not go ahead and neither man got to show the other how much testosterone they have coursing through their veins. The BRITs may have not been a significant reason for the bands disbanding but it was extremely important for the bands public image and I thought was important enough to give it's own section.
Final Thoughts
I heavily dislike Oasis. I tried to not show that throughout this piece but it may have shined through at some points. I am Blur all the way when it comes down to it. However, I do appreciate Oasis for SOME of their music, such as Don't Look Back In Anger. I think that the band is completely dysfunctional and will come to another fiery end. It's a completely unhealthy work situation and I think a lot of the blame has to go to Liam, he's hot headed and struggles to control his childlike temper. For the sakes of people who spent more then base price for these tickets I hope that hell-like end happens once the tour is finished.
